Less than an hour south of Perth by train or car, Mandurah makes for the perfect day trip or overnight stay. Here are our top 20 things to see and do for seniors in Mandurah and the Peel Region.
Did you know? If you have a Senior SmartRider from Transperth (free to apply for) you can travel for free on train and bus services from 9am until 3:30pm on weekdays and all day on weekends and public holidays, so there’s no excuse not to visit Mandurah.

1. Explore Mandurah’s calm inland waterways on a 1 Hour Dolphin Cruise & Views tour with Mandurah Cruises and encounter playful dolphins, amazing bird life, marvel at Mandurah’s luxury canals, enjoy live commentary and more. 2. Watch one of the new release movies at Reading Cinemas Mandurah – Tickets are only $12pp. Then head over to The Stage Door Waterfront Restaurant for their $20 lunch menu, Simmos Ice creamery for 39 flavours of freshly made ice cream or San Churro Chocolateria where if you show your cruise ticket or movie ticket, you’ll receive BUY 1 GET 1 FREE churros!
3. Discover the incredible flora and fauna in Mandurah’s internationally significant wetlands. Wander the beautiful Creery Wetlands walk (all flat accessible terrain) where you’ll see and hear incredible bird life, spot kangaroos grazing and learn about (and view) the diverse range of tree and plant species from the great information boards along the way.
3B. At the entrance to the Creery Wetlands walk is a home-style food café – Nourishing the Soul. They do breakfast, lunch and the BEST scones in town!

Dwellingup – Only 40 minutes from Mandurah (or 1 hour 20 minutes from Perth)
19. All within a 10-minute drive from each other are:
– Caraholly Orchard (open Sundays) where you can purchase fresh produce, walk through the cherry blossoms, enjoy tea & coffee, a bite to eat and live music.
– Blue Wren Café is the perfect stop off for a delicious home style lunch or coffee and cake.
– At the Forest Discovery Centre you can overlook the jarrah forrest from an 11m high tree-top viewing platform, wander through the art gallery, view the wildflower and interpretive displays and walk the forest trails.
– Jump on board Hotham Valley’s Steam Train (winter only) which climbs Western Australia’s steepest and most spectacular section of railway, through the Darling Range or tour the beautiful Jarrah Forest from Dwellingup to Etmilyn on their historic Dwellingup Forest Train.
– Explore Lane Poole Reserve and enjoy a picnic lunch. In winter the river forms rapids and small waterfalls and in spring its forest fills with wildflowers.
